Why is this a crucial moment for our campaign? A regional law passed in August 2002 prohibited the use of animals in University courses and the use and sale of dogs and cats for any kind of experiments, thus prohibiting Morini to sell their beagles to labs. Morini had a great economic loss from this law and appealed against it more than once, but to no use.
On June 12 2004 unfortunately the Government abolished this regional law saying animal experimantation is an issue concerning them and cannot be outlawed by regions. This law, even if specieist, can be an important precedent for other regions of Italy and is a great problem to animal abusers. That's why under the pressure of universities and pharmaceutical companies it has been deleted
The region where Morini is based is probably voting the same law again, to show the Government their will to have the sale of dogs and cats to vivisection labs banned. But 'till this will happen Morini is able now to recover from their debts selling dozens or hundreds of beagle pups to vivisectors!
That's why, as the campaign to close down Morini farm, we decided it's time to act and pressure Morini and vivisectors harder than ever. We know our relentless pressure on the farm and its collaborators will close it down, the matter is not IF but WHEN.
The time to close down Morini is NOW!
