What is Chiudere Morini campaign doing? Inspired by campaigns that closed down breeders in UK, we decided it was time to close down Italy's biggest lab animals breeder.

Our campaign started with a massive national demonstration on December 7 2002 (Giovanna's birthday), where almost 1.500 protesters gathered to march against this farm. The Animal Liberation Front had raided the farm liberating 99 beagles and releasing fundamental photo and video footage a couple weeks before the demo, and this helped building momentum (Click here to see the photos). All protesters showed up in support of this action.

Protests at the farm, to greet the 4 usual workers coming in and going out, are occurring regularly since then. Most of our protests are all day long, from 8 to 19.00, allowing us to see the farmers and the workers more than once. And sometimes it's really hard for them to come out of there among angry protesters. That's why most of the workers no more show up when protests are planned and why Giovanna goes out hiding in the back of her daughter's car trying not to be seen…

The campaign also pressure farm collaborators and customers. Many companies have dumped Morini as a result of the campaign, including all pet mags and websites, hunting mags, their internet service provider, their accountants, their shampoos suppliers, their fuel supplier, shops buying their dogs, some pharmaceutical companies and two companies delivering their sawdust and food to labs. Some customers gave us statements they are no longer linked to this farm too. And more are to come.
